The semester focuses on topics in probability theory substantially motivated by statistical physics. This research field has impressively developed in the late 20th and early 21st century. However, many of the fundamental questions are still open. The goal of the semester is to bring together prominent scientists of the field to discuss the frontline of research and to introduce the next generation of researchers to the wide range of ideas and methods of contemporary probability and mathematical statistical physics.
